Competition Team
Overview
The competition team ensures that the rest of the team follows all competition rules and works hard to ensure that our team has the information it needs to gain the competitive edge in competition. This includes a thorough knowledge of game rules, safety, and an enthusiasm to gather information about other teams to improve our own. The members of the Competition Team meet often to discuss game strategy and design ideas. It would be very beneficial to this team to be able to use CAD software to visual ly illustrate their ideas. The members of the Competition Team are allowed to be on another team, as most of the activity in this team occurs during competition season, but during competition season members should be primarily focused with this team.
Leadership
Chief Strategist: The Chief Strategist is primarily responsible for holding and leading strategy discussions and manages the strategy of the team on competition days. The Chief Strategist works frequently with the Master Chief of Engineering over matters of build design. The Chief Strategist organizes the collection of information on other robots during the competition and makes sure that a steady flow of information is given to the drivers to insure the competitive edge. The Chief Strategist must k now the rules of the game better than any other member and will constantly download updates of the rules from the Internet.
Crew Positions
Drivers- drives the robot at competitions
- takes part in strategy discussions
- ensures the constant safety of all members of the club
- must have thorough knowledge of game rules, discusses strategy with drivers during competitions, feeds design strategy to build team
- gathers information on other teams for non-competitive reasons ( i.e. information on how a particular team won a certain award, or robot features that our robot might want to pursue in following years)
- gathers information on other teams for competitive reasons to help driver and strategist
