For Parents
Welcome parents! I'm going to assume that since you're reading this, you have a child that is either already a part of our team, or considering joining. Before you go any further, we recommend you read the about page as well as the pages on the BEST and FIRST competitions so you can get a good idea about what we do. Don't worry, I'll wait for you to come back. Pretty cool, 'eh? Here's some parent-specific information you may be interested in:
Safety
Safety is a number one priority for us. We work hard to ensure that none of our members are at risk while working on the robot. Our older and more experienced members closely supervise the younger ones at all times. When using a new tool, our knowledgeable mentors teach us how to use it. Our mentors monitor our work and are quick to remind us of all safety procedures regularly. Westwood Robotics Club is sure to provide a safe working environment that is also conducive to efficiency and a constructive education.
Mentors
Mentors play a very important role in our team's success. If you are experienced in electronics, programming, working with CAD software, or working with metal, we would love to have you mentor us. As a mentor you'll come to meetings whenever you can (we understand that you may have a busy work schedule and are willing to work around it), and help us plan or build by providing insight based on your specific skills. If you're looking to get involved with the club as a parent, this is your chan ce!
Carpooling
Our team is constantly on the move, whether it be to the shop, or to the actual competition itself. We make due fairly well with student drivers, but sometimes that isn't enough. Some parents request that their children ride with adults, and we are currently in need of parents who can drive these and other students.
