During the 2016 Off-Season, Westwood Robotics has started a VEX program. A challenge of a smaller scale than FRC, this will help students develop engineering and technical skills in preparation for the bigger game. As this does not require manufacturing of parts manually, unlike FRC, VEX allows for the expansion of other abilities in STEM and is much more accessible with just the initial kit as building supplies. Team members involved in VEX will design mechanisms and work on programs, eventually participating in a competition at the end of the semester.
Meetings have already started and are convening every Friday after school.
